How to Stick to Your New Year’s Resolutions This Year!
Editor at Wai Lana

It can be so hard to stick to your New Year’s resolutions when life is so busy and full of so many responsibilities! At the same time, taking care of your health is one of the absolute best things you can do to compensate for the stress and strain of a hectic life. If you’ve made getting healthy one of your New Year’s resolutions this year, here are some tips to help you keep with it:

Exercise at home whenever you can. When you exercise at home, you shave hours off the amount of time it takes you to stay fit and healthy. Plus, you don’t have to worry about extra clothes, the stress of driving and traffic, or anything else. Wai Lana’s yoga videos and the Golden Earth Pilates and resistance training workouts are all designed to give you the maximum health benefits in the shortest amount of time while also helping you to feel calm and relaxed.

If you have only 15 or 20 minutes, go ahead and do a mini-workout.Once you get into the routine of doing your yoga or Pilates workout regularly, naturally you’ll really want to do a full workout every time you exercise. But sometimes it’s best to avoid doing “all or nothing” and just do the best you can. It’s natural that life ebbs and flows in terms of how busy you are, so if you’re really busy you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel from doing even 15 or 20 minutes of yoga. You can always just do half of a video if that’s all you have time for and do the other half later! Our yoga DVDs make it especially easy to customize your own workout; you can select which poses and how many poses you would like to do. Or try a short Pilates or resistance training workout instead. By being flexible, you’ll find it’ll be much easier to stay consistent over the long term.

If you can squeeze it in, try to do your yoga or Pilates in the morning. Morning isn’t the best time of day to exercise for everyone, but if you can squeeze it in, you may find that it really helps you to stay with your program. One study found people were significantly more likely to keep up their fitness routine if they exercised in the morning. On the other hand, if you can’t exercise in the morning, the best time is whenever you have time!

Be creative about making time for your yoga and Pilates. What works great for one person may not work at all for another. The main thing is to just get started with your yoga or Pilates routine because once you experience how invigorated and energized you feel, you’ll naturally want to make time for exercise and you’ll figure out what schedule works best for you.
